Text:  Luke 12:13-21

Sermon in a sentence:  We cannot experience lasting satisfaction and happiness until the circle of our obligations is smaller than the capacity of our souls.


Three facts that can help us manage our lives for greater satisfaction and happiness—

#1  Greed pushes us to be reckless about expanding our circle of obligation—

       verses 13-15.

 

       Four types of greed—

  • For affluence

  • For affirmation

  • For accomplishment

  • For accommodation (comfort)

 

#2  Wisdom urges us to be cautious about the size of our circle of obligation—

       verses 16-20.

 

       Two common ways we can be unwise—

  • We skim time from our priorities

  • We rob money from our future

 

#3  Only Jesus can help us expand the capacity of our souls—verse 21.
